Welcome

Welcome to St. Angela Merici Parish!

The Parish of St. Angela Merici is a Roman Catholic parish located in the Archdiocese of New Orleans. We welcome all who seek to find their way to God by a celebration of faith, all who may have for any reason felt abandoned or alienated from the Catholic Church, and all who seek a deeper understanding of the Catholic Church.

St. Angela Merici parish was founded on June 1, 1964 in the Metairie area of Greater New Orleans. We are easily accessible from Interstate 10, the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway, and are only fifteen minutes from downtown New Orleans.

Our parish was named for a 16th century Italian woman, Angela Merici, who saw education as a means of evangelization, and was determined to do something about it. She began a new concept of religious life for women, the combination of the active life as well as the contemplative life, by founding a new order named for her favorite saint, Saint Ursula. Thus she brought into being the concept of the Catholic school open for all and active in the lives of the people she served. Her work is carried on today by the Ursuline nuns.

We hope this site will give you some information about our parish. If you need more information, please contact us. If you are in our area, come visit us.
